Compliance > Attendance Monitoring
Attendance monitoring is crucial, especially for Christchurch colleges, which must track and report attendance to meet their compliance requirements.
It provides a systematic approach to managing and monitoring student attendance as per the reporting standards. The first step in effective attendance monitoring is to set up the study period and the attendance monitoring period length for each program.
It is usually set at either 10 weeks or 26 weeks, depending on reporting needs. Attendance period length is generally set at 20 hours per week, as mandated by the eSource Act.
For marking attendance, a student must be assigned to a particular class.
For each class, you must define, the start and end time of a class duration per week. The system will then use this information to calculate each student’s attendance rate, based on their assigned classes.
NOTE: If their attendance falls below 80% for two consecutive study periods, they will receive a warning as per the compliance and regulatory requirements.

Once attendance data is collected you can send reminders or warnings in bulk to selected students via the attendance monitoring screen. You can also generate the attendance report from the compliance menu.
